Terms of use

SEAMPL is a decision-support tool for designing reuse systems by integrating environmental considerations through a simplified yet scientifically robust Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach. SEAMPL is not a certification or labeling tool and cannot replace a comprehensive LCA.

Access to SEAMPL

Access to the application is available from Monday at 8:00 AM to Friday at 8:00 PM without interruption, except during maintenance or force majeure events beyond the MEANS team's control.

SEAMPL is freely and openly available for use upon acceptance of the terms of use.

SEAMPL is not a certification or labeling tool and cannot replace a comprehensive LCA.

SEAMPL is provided as-is, without warranty regarding the possible uses of its results. The authors and contributors cannot be held liable for any use made of the software.

By using SEAMPL, the user agrees to: (1) Mention the use of the software when presenting results (SEAMPL – Simplified Environmental Assessment of Packaging Loops, INRAE, https://pfmeans.inrae.fr/seampl/), (2) Cite the software if results are used in third-party applications (3) Avoid misrepresenting the origin of the software or the role of its original authors in the results produced.

Access to MEANS support

Support requests must be submitted exclusively via the contact form available on the platform’s website, under the Contact et support section. 

Data sustainability and retention

The application’s database is backed up daily. The server hosting the SEAMPL application is also backed up daily, with a retention period of one month from the current date, subject to storage capacity.

User-entered technical data is not retained.

Access account-related data (name, email address) is retained for 10 years after the account’s validity date.

Confidentiality and Data Protection (GDPR) 

The MEANS platform is committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

As part of its operation, the application collects personal data during account creation (name, email address). This information is used solely for user account management, access to provided services, and, where applicable, for internal tracking of user numbers.

Data retention conditions are defined in Section 3, "Data Sustainability and Retention."

The application includes a user management module, which ensures confidentiality between users.

No transfer of personal data outside the European Union is carried out.

In accordance with applicable legal and regulatory provisions, particularly EU Regulation No. 2016/679/UE and the amended French Data Protection Act No. 78-17 (loi n° 78-17 du 6 janvier modifiée), users have the following rights: the right to access, rectify, object (based on their specific situation), restrict processing, and erase their data. Some requests may require proof of identity.

Users can view their personal data. At any time, they may request modifications or deletion of their personal data via the contact form available on the website under Contact and support section.

In the event of an explicit request for account deletion by the user or the user’s employer, personal data will be deleted without any retention period. This deletion will result in the associated account being permanently removed. This action is irreversible.
